Loch Gorm 2020
Available Monday 6th April
Loch Gorm is the name given to the annually released sherry cask matured limited edition from Kilchoman. The loch, murky and peaty in colour, reflects the dark copper tones of the sherry matured Loch Gorm release.
As the only release in the Kilchoman range to be fully matured in sherry casks, Loch Gorm has always attracted special attention from whisky fans, especially given that just 15,500 bottles will be released. The 2020 edition, is made up of 21 oloroso sherry butts filled in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011, bottled at 46% abv without any chill filtration and colouring.
“The peat smoke and citrus sweetness of the Kilchoman spirit pairs beautifully with the rich influence of these oloroso sherry casks.
Overall there are a lot of similarities between the 2019 and 2020 expressions however the 2020 bottling is much more fruit forward, there’s a bit less of the dry sherry influence and more dried fruits and cinnamon sweetness” Anthony Wills, Kilchoman Founder and Managing Director

2019 Club Release – Eighth Edition£99.50
2019 Club Release – Eighth Edition
RELEASED THURSDAY 28TH NOVEMBER AT NOON (GMT)
The Club Release is back! Anthony Wills has been digging through some casks and chosen a vatting of one oloroso sherry butt and three bourbon barrels filled between October 2006 and December 2007. These were our first full years of production and the crown jewels of our maturing stock. Bottled at cask strength, 54.3% abv, there will be 1,242 bottles available via the Kilchoman website from Noon on Thursday priced at £119.40 (including UK taxes).
“After quite a bit of deliberation I settled on a 50/50 vatting of bourbon and sherry maturation, the casks I chose range from 11 to 13 years old. From the first time I began blending Kilchoman casks I’ve felt that the best results were achieved by combining bourbon and sherry maturation. On larger releases where I’m combining 20-40 casks I tend to use high proportions of bourbon maturation as most of our sherry casks are generally more rich than fruity. However with this year’s Club bottling I sought out a particularly fruity sherry cask, this totally changes the dynamic of the vatting, removing the dominant dry sherry note and creating a more complex combination of stewed fruits which are offset beautifully by the caramel, citrus and more prominent peat smoke of the bourbon barrels.” Anthony Wills, Kilchoman Founder and Master Distillery.
Nose: coastal freshness with minerality, cool blasts of peat smoke, seaweed and roasted pinecones. Time brings out crisp citrus sweetness, heather and soft leather.
Palate: menthol sweetness and intense peat smoke then stewed plums, glazed/salted BBQ ribs, cooked plums, apples and currents with black pepper, sweet caramel and tobacco.
Finish: rich, slightly dry sherry notes then citrus sweetness returns with peat fire embers, fig and quince fruitiness. A warm embrace on a cool winter evening!

LAUNCH DATE – WEDNESDAY 16th OCTOBER
The 2010 Vintage is a vatting of 45 casks, all filled in 2010. It consists of 42 fresh bourbon barrels and 3 oloroso sherry butts, bottled at 48% abv with no chill filtration or colouring (as with all Kilchoman bottlings).
Until the previous vintage release, 2009 Vintage, the range had been matured exclusively in bourbon barrels however this year’s edition, as with the 2009 Vintage, is a vatting of both bourbon and sherry casks, this time roughly 85/15 bourbon/sherry casks. The balance of bourbon and sherry maturation is a tried and tested combination for us, it allows for both the vanilla and citrus flavours from the bourbon barrels and the rich, spicy influence of the oloroso sherry casks to balance and complement one another.
“These proportions of bourbon and sherry cask maturation has always worked well for our spirit, it allows the unique distillery characteristics of maritime peat smoke and citrus sweetness to flourish whilst the addition of a few particularly good sherry casks add extra layers of cooked fruits, richness and mixed of spices”
Our core range of Machir Bay and Sanaig single malts both contain varying influences of these casks with a range of different ages in the vattings, however the 2010 Vintage stands out as an age-statement whisky, a minimum of 9 years old. A total of 15,000 bottles will be available worldwide from October 16th.

2018 Club Release – Seventh Edition£102.50
2018 Club Release – Seventh Edition
Anthony has selected two oloroso sherry casks of 12 years of age for the Club Seventh Edition. Typically, the Club Releases are bottlings of our oldest and rarest stock and this year’s release was perhaps the most anticipated ever. We have only released one other 12 year old bottling, a single cask bottled as a distillery exclusive. This will be our first ever 12 year old sherry matured bottling, casks 309 / 310 of 2006, and with big sherry notes, rich dark fruits and sweet tobacco, it certainly doesn’t disappoint.
Anthony Wills, Kilchoman Founder “The Club Release is a special bottling, I always take great care when selecting these casks and this year I was really torn, these two casks are some of our rarest stock, we simply don’t have many old sherry casks. That said, I believe they are at their peak, the balance is exquisite and as much as I might want to leave these in the warehouse for sentimental reasons, they were too good to overlook.”
Just 1313 individually numbered bottles are available at cask strength, 55.2%, so set a reminder for Wednesday the 28th November, bottles will be on sale exclusively from here at noon (12:00 GMT). Because of the limited number of bottles, members are limited to one bottle per person, sorry!
